The Salt Room

Are you looking for a way to de-stress and maintain your health while you’re traveling? As a travel nurse, i am always looking for ways to de-stress and enjoy the sites on my days off. While looking for a great stress reliever, I recently discovered “Salt Therapy”. Some studies suggest that salt therapy can reduce inflammation, mucous, decrease allergy symptoms, improve skin, etc. I was even told that one session was equal to spending three days at the beach. So it’s safe to say that I was skeptical. As a result, I decided to check out salt therapy for myself. I went to The Salt Room in Wesley Chapel, Fl. Once inside, the room was dimly lit with an orange glow from a couple of small Himalayan Salt lamps. Meditating music played in the background which was very comforting. The white room looked as though it was covered in snow and ice, however, the walls and ground were actually covered with salt rocks. Zero gravity chairs were placed in two rows and blankets were available even though the temperature was quite comfortable. During the session, I felt relaxed and even fell asleep! I was awakened by the young lady who greeted us earlier, to inform us that the session had ended and assisted us with our chairs and blankets. After exiting the room, I noticed a light layer of salt on parts of my body, and I was actually less congested prior to my session. We were given water to drink to replenish the fluids from the salt we inhaled. Since my initial session, I can easily say that I am glad I found salt therapy. It is absolutely relaxing which reduces my stress levels. Who can’t use a little stress reduction? I also see an improvement in my allergy and respiratory symptoms. The next time you’re on a travel assignment and you're looking for a unique and healthy way to relax, try salt therapy. It's a hidden gem!
